Chorg 870 DV

The Chorg 870 DV is an approximation of the unusual, quirky Korg 800DV, also known as MaxiKorg, which Joe Vannelli and Richard Baker used for powerful effect (due to lots of laborious overdubbing) on brother Gino’s “Storm at Sunup” and “Gist of the Gemini” albums.

Chorg DS-600

Chorg DS-600

The Chorg DS-600 is a simplified FM instrument – based on the pretty obscure Korg DS-8, which was built around the voice of the Yamaha FB-01 4-op FM module.

In place of the then-bewildering Ratio Tuning and Modulation Index way of producing waveforms, it had a set of pre-formed FM waves that one could shape ‘up’ from sine.

From author’s website:

All the plugins were created with Synthmaker (now called Flowstone) and are 32-bit Windows only.   Each synth’s folder includes the original SM schematics so that people with Synthmaker or Flowstone can modify them for themselves.

  1. I know I am very late to this post but…. If you haven’t checked out Kevin Brown plugins, I believe you are truly missing out. He made so many interesting synths with various characteristics! At first I was a bit thrown off by the lack of presets, but after playing around a bit I really started to appreciate them more for it. It forced me to learn more about the building blocks and signal flow of each of the synths they were inspired by. I have so much fun just creating patches that I actually get lost in time! I also find that I am using them more and more in my songs. Yes, many are 32bit, but with jBridge they work great in my DAW of choice (Cakewalk/Sonar)!!!!

The following is a list of my personal favorites. Naturally I haven’t tried them all…. yet!
    MatrixSix1, Juan, Oh Juan, Voyette, Osciet, Cronus, VQ-800, Tyro, JP-680, PG-238, OBie 2V, SH3p,
    Polly, SH-75. Tonus 2813, Luge

I just released some music that features quite a few presets from these synths.
Anyone interested in presets, just let me know.

    AGAIN…. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

    Pat Cotillo Jr
