200 C : Buchla 200 module plugin
This set of Buchla 200 module approximations is based on a reduced version of Suzanne Cianni’s Buchla which now resides at the Audities foundation.
For it to fit most displays without scrolling, the largest modules are not represented – the MARF and the output module; also a few of the normal-sized ones.
- Three 258-style Dual Oscillators.
- Two Quad Envelope Generators.

- Six channel mixer.
The keyboard controls module is based on some of the functions of the 221 Kinesthetic Input Port, including the unique “2D Voltage Source”, a joystick that outputs four distinct control voltages: from center up, from center down, from center left and from center right.
Since the six oscillators have FM inputs and there are eight envelopes and eight VCAs available, this can be set up as a six-operator FM synth.
The third Dual Oscillator is swapped out for a Complex Waveform Generator (Modulation Oscillator/FM pair combo), the Dual Ring Mod for a Triple-output stepLFO and the Dual CV Adder for a Four Channel Comb Filter. Also places the EGs and LoPass/VCAs in the more usual alternating arrangement.
These are NOT intended to be a emulations of the sound or precise function of any Buchla modules or instrument; only a way to experience some of the unique ‘West Coast’ way of thinking about sound generation and alteration.
Patching is by drop-downs at each signal and CV input.
32-bit, so will require jBridge, etc., (or a DAW that will bridge) for use on 64-bit systems.
The that also contains the .osm Synthmaker source ‘schematics’, so anyone with SM, or it’s successor Flowstone, can alter it to suit. It’s hoped that anyone who makes significant improvements will share the result with everyone.
As this was originally built for K Brown own use only, there are no presets included; he wanted to come at the instrument anew each time, as one did with vintage analog hardware.
