Novità assoluta e incredibile.
Con il rilascio della versione Free-2-Play di StarTrek Online, Criptic annuncia a sorpresa un porting inaspettato.
Uscirà nei prossimi mesi un porting per gli AmigaNG: AROS, MorphOS e AmigaOS 4.

Strartrek Online è un MMORPG dedicato all'universo di Startrek dove si può giocare tra migliaia di giocatori sparsi per il mondo
e decidere la nostra carriera, da medico, a ingengere o tattico per giungere al massimo grado di ogni carriera.

"Many of us are AmigaOS fan and in the past we're working as developers for important amigaOS4, AROS and MorphOS softwares.
So we have decided to this porting as our gift for Amiga 25th anniversary.
We know very well the problems and the lack of hardwars support and we are working to optimize as best as we can to offer a great
game.

AmigaOS and like, however, will have smaller universe than Windows version because it require fast processor to
handle IA and thousand players at the same time, so this version include only  Milky Way ( all planets and all solar
systems).
We are testing AmigaOS engine in a very small universe, the Earth Solar System to see how this engine respond with AmigaOS
hardwares.
We are using MorphOS 3.0 development systems, the latest AROS version with the latest gallium3D drivers and AmigaOS 4.1.5 development
kit with Warp3D/MiniGL.

We are working on MacMini with 64MB that will be a minimun to play, with some dual G4 machine with Radeon 9800XT, and 1 G5 systems. (this
system is only a prototype to make some compares with other powerfull system, but final games should be run very nice on Desktop
G4 systems).
Sorry for others macmini with 32MB, but vram is important to store best graphics, texture and overall quality.
The best hardware with MOS 3 will be the best G4 available with Radeon 9800 Series.

On AmigaOS 4.1.5 dev, we have 2 Sam460ex and 1 AmigaONe X1000 dev and here the problems is Warp3D/MiniGL.
Sam460ex, most likey, the minum to play at decent frame rate with Startrek Online, and X1000 has right cpu power to
handle this engine.
Old Sam440ep and Flex are to slow to play..and our beta universe on these machines is jerk-o-matic

For Aros, we have several machines, from old 2 Ghz Intel/AMD to modern dual/quad core and several nvidia cards.
No problems here, but gallium is not fast as you believe, but we think it can improve his performance for the release date.

Beta 1 Release date, for precisely, should be realesed a the end of june and will be limited to Earth Solar  and Tau Ceti Systems
Full games will be available at the end of 2012 and  more important: freeware."
