Varie informazioni in merito al netbook in oggetto:
It is 100% not a rumour. It runs AmigaOS already and drivers are still in development.
The device already exists and will be sourced in a special configuration from an OEM.
Hardware development is therefore 100% completed.
The quoted price includes the AmigaOS 4.x license.
AmigaOS is already running on the device.
Thus is all subject to change, so don't complain to me when any or all of the items below do not make it onto the final device:
- It's a netbook. That means it isn't intended to compete with a desktop system. It is using an integrated graphics chip. No RadeonHD. No PA Semi.
- Price point will be the complete system, including AmigaOS 4. Hopefully, it will be around $300, but we cannot say this for sure yet so calculate a price of $300 to $500.
- The prototypes we have (plural, yes) all have 2 USB ports, internal audio with external jack plugs for headsets/microphone, Keyboard and touch-pad mouse.
- The prototypes have built-in Wireless and wired ethernet. Whether both or just one of them will be on the final device I do not know yet.
- Internal mass storage. Don't ask me about the capacity, few gigs AFAIR.
- The prototypes have 512 MB memory -I think-. No idea about the size of the final product.
- AmigaOS *is* running on the device, although in a very early state. There are questions to be answered still, so the tentative release date is somewhere near the middle of 2012.
That's all I can say right now without getting punishment from the Hyperion management :)
More details will follow once we are ready to reveal them and have consulted with all our partners.
This is in no way competitive to a desktop system like the AmigaOne 500 or AmigaOne X1000 as the performance points and expandabiliy of a netbook is completely different.
There is however a 3D chip onboard of the netbook.

Forse è la cosa migliore sarà pure entry level ma per AmigaOs basta e avanza.
Sicuramente un netbook già esistente dove ci faranno girare AmigaOs.

Hyerpion sono dei buffoni alla strega di Amiga Inc.
Prima rilasciano un X1000 ad un prezzo che taglia le gambe a tantissimi utenti interessati, ma l'errore è stato affidarsi a Varisys che è una piccola Azienda con piccoli lotti di produzione.
Poi dichiarano che loro vivono solo ed esclusivamente su AmigaOS4
E ora annunciano un netbook.
ogni volta dicono il contrario di quello che dicono la volta prima.
Che falliscano e OS4 vada nelle mani di chi è in grado di portarlo avanti.
Su Amigaworld il buon Kas1e, un talentuso sviluppatore OS4, sta facendo la sua guerra privata contro Hyperion e i Frieden, attaccandoli con giuste argomentazioni e giuste perplessità
che riecheggiano nella comunità.

non so che eco abbiano le giustissime lamentele di kas1e se deve arrivare a difendersi da offese varie...
per il netbook:
notizia interessante e prezzo chiaramente da verificare. c'è chi spara sopra i 1200$ (credo più una cosa del genere).
se si trattasse di un netbook già disponibile sul mercato (e quindi quel prezzo di 300-500$ diventa verosimile) al posto di comprarlo da hyperion lo si acquista OVVIAMENTE fuori a costi abbattuti.
Se però le specifiche sono quelle che leggo, cioè macchina a 400mhz, 256mb, 4 gb di memoria di massa e schermo da 12'' non vale certo 500$.
