It’s Christmas time!

Posted on December 27, 2024December 29, 2024 By allanon No Comments on It’s Christmas time!

To tell the truth, the Christmas time has already started a few days ago and unfortunately I didn’t have time to wish you proper Christmas greeting in time, sorry!

I take this opportunity now to wish you a Merry Christmas and an Happy New Year, full of news, health and happiness!

About “The Gate” Project

As regards the “The Gate” project, I am still working on the editor, incessantly, but you can understand that in this period I don’t have much time available… however I found the time to create a program in AMOS Professional that simulates the snow effect , in the hope of giving you a small but welcome Christmas gift.

Snow Effect

Christmas time!

The program is full of comments where I explained each code section to let you start programming with AMOS, or, for people already coding with it, to let them (hopefully) learn something new.

The program has been optimized for learning and not for speed: it means that all code is written clearly, without tricks and un-needed features to learn the basics (like Double buffering & Autoback).

Snow flakes, fall down gently, with a smooth left & right shake, some flakes can fall behind the image like if they were dropping in the background.

Some flakes instead, when touching the image the start to accumulate.

Flakes can roll left or right depending on where they fall and what’s below the collision point.

But you better to look at the code, where everything is explained!

Here is a small video I recorded a couple of days ago, it’s hosted on my Mastodon profile:

I’ve attached an archive (on my Patreon) with the source code and the background image (which is not mine! I’ve only reduced the colors and remapped the palette, I cannot mention the creator because I could not find who did this nice drawing).

I wish you all the best one more time, and I sincerely thank all those who are supporting me in this somewhat complex period: a heartfelt hug to everyone!

P.S.: I’ve included a compiled version that should run nicely on all vanilla A1200, it’s called “Snow2024”. Let me know if you like this type of contents!
